As we take this opportunity to reflect and enhance all there is to offer, we are pleased to inform you of the progression of our magnificent country estate’s renovations, revealing details of what you can expect this April.
BRAND NEW LUXURY ACCOMMODATION
Following the refurbishment of our Great Hall Luxury Suites last year, we have been eager to transform all of our room categories. During our current renovation period, 30 additional rooms are being refurbished to combine modern decor with traditional tailoring, while more bedrooms are being added to form new wings on our historic estate. Accommodation at Matfen Hall will continue to provide private worlds of opulence to those who occupy them, providing all the luxuries needed for you to fall in love with new levels of grandeur.
INTRODUCING THE CLOISTERS BAR AND RESTAURANT
Dedicating our attention to the finer details will always be at the heart of Matfen Hall, meaning we are delighted to welcome guests and residents to The Cloisters Bar and Restaurant. Atmospheric and spacious, this renovated space will offer luxurious all day dining. Playing host to a menu of delicious Grill and Seafood dishes, as well as a decadent champagne bar, the choice will be all yours when you’re looking to dine and unwind in 2023.
SUSTAINABLE MEASURES FOR GREENER STAYS
As part of our goal to preserve the local environment and champion sustainability within our estate, we are taking care to ensure our renovation meets our aspirations. Matfen Hall will continue to have a high energy efficiency rating, meaning fewer emissions are created to heat the building itself, while our new kitchen and appliances have been built and specified to be one of the most sustainable kitchens in the North of England. Our championship golf course is maintained using natural pesticide-free preservatives, and we are proud that the water flowing through the course acts as a natural irrigation system for its green areas.

Any visit to Matfen Hall wouldn’t be complete without sampling our vast choice of culinary delights. With new dining destinations and the development of innovative menus and experiences, we have also invested in an ultra-modern kitchen facility to support our future vision. In a new location, built entirely from the ground up, our gourmet kitchen contains the latest equipment, ventilation and welfare provisions for our team of kitchen staff. Our award-winning chefs are working to create original concepts for each dining area, all designed to offer you more choice during your stay, while supporting local supplies and continuing to provide our signature level of service.

To allow every guest of Maften Hall to feel at home in our magnificent country estate, the addition of two lifts grants accessibility to those looking for a streamlined, supported journey throughout the hotel. Updated, spacious cloakrooms provide luxurious privacy to guests and expanded walkways accommodate any additional or special requirements you may need. We are committed to providing easy access to all rooms in every wing of our renovated estate.
Our Sapphire Room will have its own upgrade to reveal an original, open fireplace, creating a more private dining experience for those seeking secluded luxury. Warm and bright, The Orangery will be transformed into Matfen’s dedicated Tea Lounge, serving as a midday oasis to enjoy traditional refreshments. And guests will be welcomed into a brand new, comforting and welcoming Snug – an ideal hideaway to unwind in your own corner of Matfen.
