New Golf Facilities For 2026

New For 2026 - The Douglas Course

Designed to challenge, inspire and reward golfers of every skill level, The Douglas marks a new chapter for golf at Matfen Hall.

Named in honour of the estate's heritage, The Douglas incorporates nine newly designed and reimagined green complexes with the classic character of the original layout. Dry-stone walls, natural water hazards and the meandering River Pont all feature across an 18-hole journey through some of the north of England's finest countryside.

WHATS NEW:

  • Nine newly designed greens
  • The Academy at the driving range, additional simulator and teaching bay
  • New driving range with 15 Toptracer bays
  • Short game practice area
  • All weather 18-hole putting course
  • The Himalayas-style oversized Putting Green adjacent to the Hall
  • Woodland path connecting the Hall to the Par-3 Course and Driving Range
  • New irrigation system

The Douglas - Our Championship Course

The Douglas takes its name from the reimagined nine-hole layout of the same name - the nine green complexes completely redesigned by James Edwards are now combined with the existing Standing Stone nine to create an outstanding 18-hole championship course. The result is a layout that plays entirely new while respecting what was already here.
