The Douglas Course
The Douglas is Matfen Hall's newly christened 18-hole championship course - designed to challenge, inspire and reward golfers of every skill level.
Named in honour of the estate's heritage, The Douglas combines nine newly designed and reimagined green complexes with the classic character of the original layout - dry-stone walls, natural water hazards and the meandering River Pont - all feature across an 18-hole journey through some of the north of England's finest countryside.
The Golf Academy
Set within the 300-acre Matfen Hall estate, The Golf Academy brings everything you need to learn, practise and enjoy the game into one place. Seasoned players can fine-tune every club in the bag. Families and newcomers can pick up a club for the first time.
No membership is needed, and the Academy is open to everyone. It's the perfect partner to our championship course, The Douglas.

PGA Coaching
Whether you are picking up a club for the first time or chasing a lower handicap, our PGA Professionals are here to help you enjoy the game more and play it better.
From individual and junior lessons to weekly group sessions, playing lessons on the Par-3 and The Douglas, and custom club fitting, our coaching takes place across the Matfen Hall estate, including the Toptracer driving range and dedicated short game area at The Golf Academy. It is open to members and visitors alike.

The Keepers
Overlooking The Douglas, our championship golf course, The Keepers is a space for guests and members to enjoy the gentle beauty of our Northumbrian estate. Informal and inviting, stroll off the green and into the cool elegance of our purpose-built lodge, balcony and patio for 19th hole libations and a meal. Also housed are our golf instruction and club fitting facilities, simulator for golf or football and our well-stocked pro shop.
