Set within the 300 acres of the historic Matfen Hall estate, The Golf Academy brings together everything you need to learn, practise and enjoy the game, all in one place.
From 15 covered Toptracer bays and an all-weather adventure putting course to our 9-hole Par 3, dedicated short game area and PGA coaching in the Swing Suite, the Academy has been designed to welcome every kind of golfer. Seasoned players can fine-tune every club in the bag, while families and newcomers can pick up a club for the very first time.
Open to members and visitors alike, with no membership required, it is the perfect partner to our championship course, The Douglas, and a place to return to again and again.

Monday to Friday: 9am-8pm (last balls 7:30pm)
Sunday: 9am- 7pm (last balls 6:30pm)
The Driving Range
Step into one of 15 covered, all-weather bays and see every shot come to life with Toptracer technology. Track the flight, distance and speed of each ball, take on friends in virtual challenges, or play a round on some of the world's most famous courses without leaving Northumberland.
With artificial target greens across the range and balls available in buckets of 50 or 100, it is the perfect place for a quick session before your round, an evening with friends or an afternoon of friendly family competition.
The Par-3
Our 9-hole Par 3 course is the ideal place to sharpen your short irons, build confidence on the course or introduce a new golfer to the game. Play nine holes, or go round twice for the full eighteen.
Open to everyone, not just members, the Par 3 is reached through the Academy building and can be booked at reception.

The Mini Matfen Putting Course
Our 18-hole putting course is fun for the whole family and open in all weathers. Designed by James Edwards the man behind some of the finest putting surfaces in the country, each hole brings its own twists, slopes and surprises.
Whether it is a family day out, a playful first date or a gentle warm-up before taking on The Douglas, Mini Matfen is the place where everyone gets to play.
