On Christmas Eve, arrive to mulled wine, mince pies and a relaxed evening of dining and celebration - the perfect way to settle into the elegant warmth of our historic hall.
Wake to Champagne and canapés on Christmas morning before sitting down to a 3-course Christmas lunch in Cloisters restaurant. Sink into an evening of traditional indulgence with grazing boards, board games and time to rest by the fire before retiring to your luxurious room.
And the icing on the Christmas cake is a late check-out on Boxing Day. Take your time over an a la carte breakfast, take a turn around the garden and make the day yours.

An evergreen seasonal event that’s grown in popularity at Matfen Hall, our Wreathmaking Masterclasses are the perfect way to begin the Christmas preparations with friends and loved ones.
Design and make your own festive wreath with Kate from Northumbrian Flowers, selecting and arranging winter greenery and local botanicals to craft the perfect centrepiece for your front door. Then take your seat for a festive dining experience, a Christmas treat to enjoy together.

Meet Father Christmas
A timeless tradition and one of those moments you never forget, bring your little ones to meet Father Christmas in his grotto.
Magical from the moment you arrive, walk through the spectacular winter wonderland and treat your little ones to time with Santa Claus and a small gift to take home.
With dates scheduled throughout December, visiting Father Christmas in his festive workshop is a memory treasured forever.

New Year’s Eve
Don your finest attire and welcome in the New Year with a five star celebration.
With a Champagne reception, five-course gala dinner and live music - this is the invitation of the year. Dance the night away before stepping outside for a breath of night air and a firework display that lights up the night sky at the stroke of midnight.
Then drift into 2027 with a blissful night’s sleep and an a la carte breakfast - the perfect way to start the year.
